समुद्र मंथन

कामधेनु - The Wish-Fulfilling Cow

"कामधेनुस्तु देवता सर्वकामप्रदा स्मृता"

- विष्णु पुराण

During the cosmic churning of the ocean (समुद्र मंथन), fourteen precious gems emerged. Among them was कामधेनु, the divine cow who could grant any wish. She was taken to heaven by the gods, and her presence ensures abundance, peace, and prosperity.

नंदिनी - The Cow of Rishi Vashishta

"नन्दिन्याः प्रसादेन सर्वं सिद्ध्यति मानवम्"

- रामायण

In the Ramayana, the great sage वशिष्ठ possessed a divine cow named नंदिनी, daughter of Kamdhenu. When King Vishwamitra tried to seize her by force, she created an entire army to protect her master, demonstrating that those who serve cows receive divine protection.

सुरभि - The Cow Goddess

"सुरभिः कामधुक् देवी गवां माता सनातनी"

- मत्स्य पुराण

सुरभि is worshipped as the mother of all cows and an incarnation of देवी लक्ष्मी. She emerged during the churning of the ocean and was given to the seven sages (सप्तऋषि). Her worship brings wealth, prosperity, and removes all obstacles.
